Both electric and manual toothbrushes are effective at removing the plaque off the tooth surface to help prevent tooth decay and gum disease.
With the electric toothbrush, hold the brush on each tooth surface for three seconds—it’s designed to do the work for you. With the manual toothbrush, use a circular motion when brushing in order to avoid gum recession and tooth brush abrasion lesions.
With both brushes, make sure you give it a 45 degree angle into the gum line—this is where the plaque bacteria like to hide, and ALWAYS use a soft bristled toothbrush. Best practice is to brush your teeth
2x daily for a minimum of two minutes.
