Invisalign was created as the ‘braces alternative. It uses a series of clear aligners that you swap out every two weeks to slowly straighten teeth. Think of it as an invisible brace!
Benefits of Invisalign
- Virtually invisible – Your aligners are made of clear plastic. They are therefore much more discreet than other orthodontic devices.
- Removable – You can remove your aligners for drinking, cleaning and eating; allowing you to take a short break.
- Comfortable – There are no bulky metal braces with brackets and wires in the way.
The Invisalign process
Initial appointment
You will have an initial consultation with Dr Julia to determine if you are an appropriate Invisalign patient. Before you are able to go ahead, you will also need to complete any outstanding or required dental treatment.
3D scans of Bite
If you are suitable, we will then take 3D scans of your mouth. These scans will be stored on ClinCheck, a software that will map out your entire Invisalign treatment journey. This treatment map will show the movements of your teeth at every step, and give you a preview of the finished result.
This software calculates the exact amount of force required to achieve your straighter smile in the most efficient way possible. Once Julia is satisfied with the scans, they will be sent off to Invisalign to make your personal aligner trays.
Fabricating your aligners
Once your Invisalign trays are complete, Dr Julia will meet with you at a second consultation to ensure that your aligners fit properly. You will be provided with 3 sets of aligners.
Don’t worry if your aligners feel uncomfortable during the first day or two, this is normal. Each aligner tray is designed to gradually move your teeth, which prepares them for the next sequential aligner tray. You will need to wear each set for around two weeks before moving on to the next set.
How much does it cost?
Depending on your treatment needs, Invisalign in Brisbane can cost anywhere from $4500-$9000. At Bite Dental Studios in Brisbane City, we offer flexible payment plans including Zip Pay and interest free options so you can break down your total cost into affordable weekly or monthly payments.
Do I need Invisalign?
If you want to straighten your teeth, but have been deterred by the appearance of traditional braces, Invisalign could be the solution for you. However, this is only worth it if you are committed to the treatment.
Since Invisalign aligners are removable, you are responsible for how well the treatment goes. You should wear your Invisalign aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day and each tray for approximately two weeks for best results.
Failure to be compliant may result in your treatment either taking longer to give you your desired smile or the treatment being inefficient and unsuccessful.
